Stop this shit (rant)

Going on Depop only makes me angry.

There are so many people on there just flipping 109 brands for profit.

This shit disgusts me and I do not respect this behavior.

I don’t understand why this is normal now.

First off, the “not sure about selling but I’ll take offers UWU” is so disingenuous. As far as I’m concerned, you are dangling keys in front of the face of kids who want brand but don’t know how to import from Japan yet. You are banking on taking advantage of people who don’t know these clothes aren’t worth so much money. Either that, or you just want to flex that you have something that someone else doesn’t, and you dont even intend to sell. Fine, but why are you doing that on a SALES APP?? Go to TikTok or instagram to flex. You’re wasting everyone’s time. “not selling just showing my collection” THIS IS A SALES APP BEGONE!!

If you don't want to sell, dont list it, if you do want to sell, just set a price and sell it. Stop trying to see what you can squeeze out of desperate gullible teens with daddy's credit card.

Second, “super rare discontinued deadstock” SHUT UP!! It’s NOT rare. It only seems so because you scalpers keep buying it all up to resell for 6x price, so now the only listings left active are the ones no one is buying because it’s already listed for $300. Just because you can call something ‘rare’ and claim it’s worth some amount doesn’t make it so, it just makes you a scammer. I don’t know how you can sleep at night.

If the same item wasn't "rare" when it first went out of sale in 2014, being sold on FaceBook for at or below retail price, by several people at once, it's still not rare now. It's not like the stock all disintegrated into thin air, it's just being hoarded.

Third, the “this is being imported” “it’s still on its way to me” “shipped from Japan”, literally all just telling on yourselves. You’ve bought it off Y!Auctions for $15 to immediately try to turn around and sell for $300. It never even gets worn or loved or used, it just changes hands as a means to benefit yourself.

Of course this stuff also happens on other platforms like EBay and Mercari and such, and I also dont respect it there, but depop is definitely the worst of it.

The community aspect of jfashion has just completely dissolved these days. No longer are people interested in lifting each other up nor actually in it for the love of the game, genuinely just liking and wearing the fashion they enjoy, but rather pushing each other to the ground to step on them and make a quick buck. Jfashion is no longer a passion but a business opportunity. It really pisses me off.

If the community aspect was still alive, people would care too much about how others in the community thought of them to pull shit like this. They would feel icky about scamming their fellow jfashion enthusiasts, who they see as real people they share a connection with instead of just potential customers. and I know this because I remember back when that’s how it was, when sales groups were just people earnestly swapping clothes that maybe didn’t fit or they no longer wanted with others who would love them, for around or even below retail price. Because we were all in it together and we all knew each other basically, we didn’t want to rip each other off, and we genuinely wanted the clothes to go to someone who would love them.

And I guess now maybe I’m one of the few people still around who actually see my fellow jfashion enthusiasts as people who I respect and care for and want the best for?? So this shit really angers me, watching them get taken advantage of just for wanting a cute (mass produced) (mall brand) (used with sweat stains) top.

I don’t respect this behavior and I think it should be called out. I think we should be making these people feel embarrassed for doing this, we should be making it passé.

And PLEASE if you, who are reading this, are new to jfashion and don’t know how to buy or what things are worth, basically DON’T SHOP ON WESTERN SITES. You can message me and I’ll teach you what you need to know about shopping. 109 brands secondhand should not cost $300 a piece, that is not normal. Do not feed these people’s greed.

  2. Ughhh I hate them so much as well. It hurts bc I love the really old tropical stuff and what’s left of it is always scalped. I can’t even find listings in Japan anymore.

  3. That's why I stopped buying brand at all...I have been a victim to Mercari scammers too...now I regret paying so much for this stuff, I lost a lot of money. For example: Jesus Diamante Heels that wasn't sold anywhere for around 100€ or smth (and then of course tax and shipping etc. on top)..these shoes broke apart on my feet! Most brands are of average quality, that makes them worth NOTHING today...they are basically buying stuff that will break any second.

  4. Makes me glad I stopped using that site or others to find jfashion. Everything is about making a quick buck or flexing. Like please get off the internet and touch grass.
