Gee Ray, I wanted to sleep...now I have to watch it lmao... but I want to get into his points in his video, so I comment while watching:
-I think it is interesting he says that some prefer to "not work for content" and that we receive the content different from how it used to be. I also remember the times you were actively googling and searching for websites you bookmarked and although I hate social media for the aggressive content it has nowadays which is as he calls it -in-your-face, I kiiinda have to agree with this. What I sometimes like about algorithms is, it shows me NEW stuff that I can be excited about. But I think it is very important to use it in small portions. Like for example I am not the person to sit endless hours on these "platforms" I rather choose time if I want to. For example I use X for news, mostly only on my work lunch time...I have noticed I barely use it on days off. I use pinterest to see new inspo, 5-10 mins a day maybe to check my recommendations and that's it. And every now and then XHS for like 20-30 minutes in the evening before going to sleep if I got nothing better to do and are still very much awake. I choose time pretty much deciding when I let these "platforms" giving me content. -I honestly have no idea about what he is talking about bluesky, it is pretty much the same damn thing like X but not as popular. Also I think it is everyones own fault to just "reply" without looking at the original post or who they are talking to. I may be too old to understand but that basically the first thing I do before opening my mouth? like huh? -IT IS SO FUNNY HE MENTIONED THIS CANADA BECOMING A 51ST STATE THING...I honestly thought people knew it was a joke!!! Are ppl really that gullible to think it could happen? T.T -Since I also like using ChatGPT or Grok I felt like giving a statement here too: Both sites already mention "to check if information is correct". I think anybody who just trusts it blindly is a fool. I like using them as a tool to get to the information I need quicker. For example with the writing style I mentioned some days ago..when I put it on google, it would constantly give me some half-assed articles from a "journalist" about writing styles or whatever with the same boring sentences and rough definitions without proper explanations. When I put it into ChatGPT, I could directly respond to its results, getting closer to what I needed. Something that is not possible via Google. After receiving a satisfying result, I start researching "oldschool" for information like he called it in the beginning of his video. That is how to use these TOOLS. No ai, no matter how much they advert it nowadays is that good yet to COMPLETELY replace human research. I think everybody should know that.
Maybe it's because I am getting old or I am just THAT awkward but I feel like all of what he said is common sense? Do ppl really don't know that? because everyone around me knows and they all agree with me and their opinions pretty much coincide with his statements. I am surprised all of this has to be said, still, in 2025. There was a time when ppl were vulnerable to social media and algorithms but most were able to break out I think? I hope??
Still thank you for suggesting. It was an interesting video for sure.
Thanks for this recommendation!
